How to Perform Blepharoplasty ?
For blepharoplasty, the patient's skin is examined. Skin and muscle tissue in the eyelid area is cut. The cut tissue is removed and the process of giving a tense appearance is started. During upper eyelid surgery, the upper eyelid is removed from the lower muscle along with the excess skin by applying local anesthesia. If there is a sagging of the tear gland, this section is hung up and closed with melting seams and the process is terminated. In lower eyelid surgery, the lower eyelid is anesthetized with local anesthesia and the skin and muscle are removed.
- Patients can be discharged on the same day or stay in hospital for 1 night.
- Eye-straining conditions should be avoided for 2 days after surgery.
- Sunglasses should be used to protect against direct sunlight.
- After eyelid surgery, cold application and high pillow should be lying.
- The patient can return to work after 1 week, but it may take 2-3 weeks for the edema in the eyelids to completely pass.
- After the 10th day, makeup can be applied to the eyes.
Frequently Asked Questions
In eyelid surgeries, incision marks remain in the full cap folding place on the upper lid and at the bottom of the eyelashes on the lower lid. These marks do not appear on the upper cover from about 1 month, while in the lower cover they become completely pale from the 2nd month.
Edema in the first days of recovery is usually resolved at the end of the first week and the patient can easily resume his normal life in the second week.
There is no specific lower or upper age limit for eyelid surgeries. Minimal deformations around the eyes at an early age are usually solved by non-surgical, non-surgical aesthetic methods.
As with any surgery, there is a very low risk of infection. Therefore, it is necessary to avoid contact with water of the surgical area for the first 5 days. There is no different risk other than infection.
